Throwback Thursday: Best Laid Plans by Nora Roberts

Author: Nora Roberts
First published in 1989 by Silhouette

When Cody Johnson first caught sight of structural engineer Abra Wilson, he thought of endless possibilities. She had style and confidence--and was distracting as hell. She'd called his design an impractical piece of fancy, but then, he'd always preferred frankness to subtleties.

Abra had met men like Cody before. They usually thought they could smile their wa out of trouble, and this overconfident East Coast architect was no exception. She'd told him to back off, but he wasn't listening.

Friction was inevitable, but when sparks turned to flames of passion, could either of them take the heat?

Best Laid Plans is the sequel to Loving Jack.  It features Cody, who is Nathan's partner from the first book.  He is in Arizona overseeing the building of a resort that his firm designed when he finds himself clashing with the project's chief engineer, Abra.  Of course with these two, the sparks start to fly immediately.  Too bad, Abra wants to fight them all the way.

I liked this one more than the first one.  Even though Abra was reluctant, she doesn't fight too hard to stay away.  And neither of them was annoying!  I liked that they became friends first and then gave in to their passions.  Abra's reluctance for commitment was understandable, yet I was happy she got over it quickly. There wasn't too much angst. Of the two, I would recommend this one more.  It does stand well on its own, so if you want to skip right to this one, I would say go for it.
